Conversation Partners
What It Is
SMILE Conversation Partners program pairs newly arrived refugees with native or near-native English speaking members of the community.
Why It Is Needed
The program aims to improve the conversational English skills of refugees resettled in the area and ease the transition to their new home country.
It is part of greater SMILE programming that works towards empowering refugees to become self-sufficient.
Who Can Volunteer
Volunteers will receive a short orientation prior to the start of their sessions.
When It Takes Place
Conversation classes will take place at 11:00AM.
Each session requires a four-week commitment on the dates below. Each session is an hour and a half.
Session 1: November 11, November 18, December 2, December 9
Where It Takes Place
Sessions take place in the Clifton/Paterson area, at the new SMILE office
